On Tuesday 21st June, Form 4 went to Wintershall to see an open air play about the life of Jesus Christ. We watched four acts in beautiful scenery starting with the birth of Jesus and his childhood. We particularly liked the angel Gabriel who kept appearing from nowhere and the real baby Jesus who got very upset when he was being blessed in the temple. The act included really well-behaved sheep, horses, donkeys, pigeons and doves!
The next act showed Jesus being baptised by John the Baptist in the River Jordan and then going to the desert for forty days where he was tempted by the devil three times.
Jesus went on to perform many miracles that we have learnt about in school such as turning water into wine, healing lepers, making a blind man see and feeding the 5000 (including some of us) with real bread! We heard Jesus telling parables like the Good Samaritan, the House on the Rock and the Prodigal Son, and we saw how some characters were affected by their encounter with Jesus like the disciples, Zacchaeus and the Samaritan woman at the well.
We saw the events of Holy Week including Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, the Last Supper and Jesus’ crucifixion. After Jesus’ resurrection from the empty tomb he met with many of his disciples (including doubting Thomas) and then he ascended into heaven.
We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was a long day but we would recommend it and rate it 10 out of 10!
