Form 3 are thoroughly enjoying their History topic this term: Ancient Egypt. Today, the class learnt how the Egyptians prepared bodies for the afterlife through mummification. They learnt how the body was purified before the brain was removed through the nose; how the lungs, liver, stomach and intestines were taken out and how the body was left to dry out for 40 days before being wrapped in linen. The children were most enthralled by the hilariously gruesome details. The class then had a go at mummifying a few willing participants themselves (omitting the removal of organs, of course!)
