As part of our Science topic in Form 2 of ‘Being Healthy’, we all enjoyed making and eating a picnic on Friday 30th April. The afternoon was a great success! We looked at recipes and then split the children into three groups. Each group had responsibility for a recipe – fruit kebabs, houmous and veg platter, cream cheese and carrot pinwheels. The children spent time chopping, threading, slicing, spreading, grating and arranging the food onto plates. We talked about which food groups each of the ingredients fitted into, as the children were making the food. Finally, we took the food outside and ate it! We talked about trying foods we hadn’t tried before and lots of children discovered something new that they liked. As you can see from the empty plates – the picnic went down very well!
